I wish Michael Shannon hadn’t gotten himself mixed up in this mess, because he’s much better than this film. We all are, really, except maybe these-days Hilary Swank. I’m just tired of these movies, these background songs, these emotions being piled on so thick. If you want to deal with this subject, think of an original way to present it or don’t touch it at all.
