This looks like the kind of movie you watch with your in-laws, a film that’s good but won’t quite live down most of the couch company calling it “cute”. I love Carell, Zemeckis is a genius, we’ve seen this kind of motion-capture animation from him before, and the story just seems so heart-breaking. But I can’t believe that Janelle Monae is still posing as an actual actress, and Leslie Mann is someone you just can’t take seriously. I really do want to watch this film, I will probably find it very pleasant, but then I’m afraid it will be forgotten easily.
