He ain’t heavy, he’s Richard Gere. Or something like that. Anyway, this looks like the opposite of a date night movie. It looks very depressing, I doubt it has a happy ending, and two hours is a long time to watch Mayo be homeless. But Oren Moverman is a pretty accomplished screenwriter, even more so than he is a director, and perhaps he puts together a solid film here, even if they do steal the “I don’t exist” line from Birdman.
