Director: Tarsem Singh

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Ben Kingsley, Matthew Goode

Release: July 31st, 2015

This role is probably at the very limit of Ryan Reynolds’ talent.  He’s not terrible, but he’s not great, and this sort of thriller with a dramatic edge might be right up his alley.  Ben Kingsley is thrown in for credibility, and I like Matthew Goode as the villain.  I’d be on the fence, but Tarsem Singh directing pushes me to actually be a little hopeful.  I loved The Fall (2006), starring Lee Pace and directed by Tarsem, a visually unique film that I still think about.  I’m ignoring the fact that he also directed The Cell and Mirror Mirror.
