This is one of those movies that only a masochist could enjoy, that is so obviously pure torture that I couldn’t possibly watch it. And that’s not a comment on the quality of the film or the abilities of anyone involved, not at all. It’s a comment on the pure terror of the plot, how I couldn’t imagine voluntarily subjecting myself to feeling the way this story is guaranteed to make me feel. The voice on the baby monitor scene is enough by itself to terrify me as a parent.
