The cinematography of this film looks incredible, and I really enjoy this time period, although it seems difficult to make a movie about it that works out as well as the director thinks it will. And call me sexist, but I like the men in this movie, not so much the women. Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Messina; all solid. Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller; not my favorites, although Saldana has been pretty strong in a few projects. Affleck as a director has been impressive (Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo) and this script is based off of a Dennis Lehane novel (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island, The Drop), so I’m on board and I’ll hope for the best.
