This looks like it would make a great Stephen King book. The problem is, not everyone can write stories like this in a way that’s believable. Because, as ridiculous as the plots may be, that’s what King can do, make the horror realistic in a way that frightens us to the bone; that’s why we read his books. Mitchell, who directed and wrote this film, probably isn’t the second coming of King. His only other project was The Myth of the American Sleepover, which I actually wanted to see but never did. Maybe I’ll check out that one first, see if this guy has talent, and then see what he can do with horror.
