As weird as this movie looks, Melanie Lynskey (Happy Christmas, The Intervention) is amazing and I will watch it ASAP. She’s gold, there’s just no denying that, and she can literally do anything. This role actually fits right into her wheelhouse, so she won’t have to stretch much, but at least we know she’s capable of handling whatever is thrown her way. And the first thing tossed at her is Elijah Wood, a terrible actor, but someone who just might be a strange enough casting to come off as funny. Macon Blair (Blue Ruin, Green Room) will make his directorial debut, but he sure knows his modern horror, so I’m hoping that he’ll work some magic in his first attempt. I don’t know, I’m optimistic.
