I actually see some promise in this story, and a little heart in the portrayal. But I guarantee you that Thomas McCarthy, who is a mediocre actor & an amateur director, doesn’t have the power or ability to control the plot and/or Adam Sandler, not in the way that will be needed to keep this movie from going goofy.
