This movie reminds me of a combination of Bottle Rocket and American Honey, a bit more like the latter with just some influence from the former. And I do respect what Sean Baker is doing with his filmmaking, which makes this story all the more appealing. It looks to mirror the ultra-real style of others that have come before, but I don’t fault it for that, and I think it could turn into something special.
